imageCongratulations to General Manager Richard Currie, Union Sanitary District, and General Manager Paul Bushee, Leucadia Wastewater District, for achieving the Special District Administrator (SDA) designation. The SDA Certification Program is one of the core programs of the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF), of which CASA is a supporting organization. Achieving the SDA designation shows the highest level of commitment by a professional operating within a special district. A candidate has to both qualify to take and then successfully pass the examination. The new SDAs will be recognized for their achievement at this CASA conference.

The City of Riverside deserves applause for taking first place in the nation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's award program for pre-treating sewage before it enters the wastewater treatment plant. EPA official Alexis Strauss said in a statement, “The City of Riverside has an outstanding pre-treatment program coupled with strong pollution prevention elements that focus on pollutants that either affect or could have an effect on the Santa Ana River and its watershed.”
