Private Sewer Lateral Survey

CASA recently contacted agency members about your participation in a survey regarding Private Sewer Lateral programs.

Click here to take the survey

This survey, sent to all General Managers of CASA agencies, is estimated to require 15 minutes to complete. Your responses will be used to gauge the feelings of the CASA membership and guide CASA's future actions with respect to private sewer lateral issues.

This survey is being conducted by an independent research firm, EMC Research, on behalf of CASA. The survey is for research purposes only.

We encourage every CASA member to participate so that we can understand how all members view the issues associated with private sewer laterals.

MARTINEZ, California, December 4, 2007 – “In the next seven to ten years, 50% of all water and wastewater treatment plant operators are expected to retire,” says Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) General Manager Bert Michalczyk. “These jobs provide excellent pay, benefits, and promotional opportunities for the next generation.” To meet this staffing challenge, thirteen east bay agencies have joined forces and contracted with Solano Community College in Fairfield to bring water and wastewater technology courses closer to home.

LAKE ELSINORE, California, November 1, 2007- The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) made history this summer when it started pumping nearly 5 million gallons of recycled water into Lake Elsinore each day from its award-winning wastewater treatment plant. The project marks the first time that recycled water has been tapped as a reliable source to replenish a recreational lake in California.

EVMWD’s innovative plan utilizing its new, state-of-the-art wastewater reclamation facility is part of overall strategy to breathe life back into the lake by stabilizing its water levels and improving water quality.

RICHMOND, California, October 10, 2007 – West County Wastewater District (WCWD) announced that they will use solar energy to power their wastewater treatment plant, and that a 1MW solar energy facility will be constructed on WCWD land in Richmond, CA. Engineering work is underway and construction is expected to begin this winter for the system. “The District is in the environmental business. We are always looking for ways to conserve our natural resources and our ratepayers’ sewer use fees. This project is just another step in the use of alternative energy which allows us to do both,” said Leonard Battaglia, WCWD President.
