CASA is the leading voice on clean water issues in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. CASA engages on an array of legislative issues both on the state and federal level to advocate on behalf of its members to promote clean water efforts, environmental protection and public health. CASA has established two committees – State Legislative Committee and Federal Legislative Committee – which review hundreds of bills each session and under the guidance of CASA Executive Board work with CASA’s professional legislative advocates in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
Issues addressed through CASA’s legislative efforts include: clean water, climate change, renewal/green energy, recycled water, biosolids, emerging contaminants, infrastructure, as well as public agency governance and finance concerns. In partnership with other federal, state and regional wastewater association CASA uses this network to respond in collaboration to bills or regulatory concerns and have a strong and united voice.
CASA hosts an annual Washington, D.C. conference where members have visits “on the Hill” to meet with the California Congressional Delegation to discuss issues of concern to California’s wastewater community. CASA has strong grassroots programs established to respond to legislative bills in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
